Things I Want to Say at My IEP Meeting
Brainstorm & Organize Your Thoughts
What is this worksheet about? Use this worksheet to brainstorm and organize the things you want to say at your IEP meeting. The more prepared you are, the more confident you'll feel!
Part 1: Brain Dump - Just Write!
Don't worry about perfect sentences. Just write all the things you want to say — anything about your learning, goals, strengths, challenges, or what you need.
Everything I want to say (write anything that comes to mind):
Part 2: Organize by Topic
What's WORKING WELL for me (my strengths, successful strategies):
1. ____________________________________________________________________
2. ____________________________________________________________________
3. ____________________________________________________________________
What's HARD or FRUSTRATING for me (challenges, struggles):
1. ____________________________________________________________________
2. ____________________________________________________________________
3. ____________________________________________________________________
What I NEED (supports, accommodations, changes):
1. ____________________________________________________________________
2. ____________________________________________________________________
3. ____________________________________________________________________
Part 3: Practice Saying It
TIP: Speaking in Meetings
Use simple, clear sentences. You don't have to say everything at once. It's okay to pause. It's okay to ask for clarification. Your voice matters!
My #1 most important thing to say (the thing I MUST mention):
Try saying it out loud using these sentence starters:
I'm really good at...
I struggle with...
I need help with...
I want to work on...
Can we try...?
I don't understand...
Can you explain...?
Part 4: Check Your Plan
My plan for speaking at the meeting (check what applies):
I will read my prepared list at the meeting
I will use this worksheet to help me remember what to say
I will talk about my top 1-2 most important things
An adult will help me by asking me questions
